Celebrating 100 Years of Community
Crystal Lakes has been a place to call home since the early 1900s, when residents began shaping the area into a peaceful retreat centered around its natural water features. In 1925, the community officially united as a not-for-profit association, quickly becoming a haven for families seeking a quieter, more connected way of life. Farmland and woodland gradually gave way to a charming lakeside neighborhood with winding roads, modest homes, and a strong sense of togetherness.

Nearly a century later, Crystal Lakes continues to thrive — its scenic lakes still defining the landscape and its grassroots spirit stronger than ever. Through changes in infrastructure, leadership, and growth, one thing has remained constant: the dedication of residents to keeping Crystal Lakes safe, beautiful, and welcoming for generations to come.
“Crystal Lakes is where generations gather, lakes reflect our stories, and neighbors turn into lifelong friends.”
Shaped by Ice, Connected by Nature
Crystal Lakes is a stunning example of Ohio’s glacier-carved landscape — a series of four interconnected kettle lakes shaped by ancient ice. At the heart of it all is Main Lake, the largest of the group, which gently links to North Lake, South Lake, and Hidden Lake through a natural channel system that winds through the neighborhood.

Fed by tributary streams to the north and nourished by groundwater from nearby wetlands to the east, the lake system is as dynamic as it is peaceful. Main Lake spans about 20 acres, with most of its waters ranging from 4 to 11 feet deep thanks to a broad shelf. The center of the lake is approximately 40 feet in depth.
